Hiram & Solomon Master Mason Review: A Perfectly Crafted Cigar

Since the pandemic hit the UK back at the end of March 2020, as a result of my enjoyment of cigars, I have been blessed to meet, albeit virtually, some truly wonderful people. Amongst them are the lovely people behind the Hiram & Solomon cigars.

One Friday night, I went live on Instagram with a fellow sister of the leaf Syafiera to chat about cigars and being a woman who enjoys smoking them. It seemed only appropriate that we should smoke a cigar from the brand that had brought us together. Checking out our respective humidors at the beginning of the week, we decided on the Master Mason by Hiram & Solomon.

This is not the first time I have smoked this cigar and each time I passed my humidor, it took me all my will power not to light up prior to Friday night. This should give you some indication of my thoughts on the Hiram & Solomon Master Mason.

Right out of the gate, this cigar was beautifully creamy and full of flavour. The cold draw filled my mouth with the taste of cashew nuts and I couldn’t wait to light up and get started. The first draws were equally creamy and reminded me of a lightly spiced dhansak.

As conversation continued in full flow, I noticed that the flavour of the Master Mason had developed a gentle undertone of liquorice walnuts towards the middle, which worked perfectly with my late night coffee and Spanish red wine chaser.

The final third of the cigar served up another delicious platter of flavours. The cashew nuts present at the Master Mason’s opening were replaced by the earthier tones of walnuts and chestnut mushrooms. The liquorice had transformed to a dark roasted coffee. Throughout the cigar, the smoke had been consistently velvety and voluminous, yet also light and full of sweet flavours. Once again this was a beautifully creamy cigar that served up a full three course meal.
